BOSTON, Oct. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — At 11:00am on Monday, October 30th, the five REAL Riders who left Seattle on August 1st, will be riding the final mile into a homecoming ceremony hosted by students and faculty at BDEA and local community leaders including AG Maura Healey, City Councilor Ayanna Pressley and Deputy Superintendent of Boston Public Schools Dr Karla Estrada.
REAL Ride founder Cris Rothfuss organized this “off-road” ride to raise money and awareness for schools across the United States who work with students who have taken an “off-track” route to their high school diploma.
Head of School, Alison Hramiec saw the connection between the REAL Ride and the students from the outset, “Most of our students come to us struggling to finish high school because of factors associated with the multi-generational poverty. What inspires all of us at BDEA is that our students continue to rise despite these challenges. They are warriors. And, it is heartening when people from outside education come into our community and in a short period of time, understand the impact our work is having on our young adults. We are excited to host the REAL Ride homecoming and enthusiastic about the community leaders joining us.”
